It was not a good morning for Atthaporn Boonmakchuay when a 9 foot long python slithered out of his squat toilet and bit him in an intimate place.
38-year old Boonmakchuay lives east of Bangkok in the Chachoengsao province in Thailand. On Wednesday May 25th, he went in to the bathroom as usual.
He’d just sat down when the python attacked and fastened its jaws on him. His wife Sawittree Shooyoung heard him scream for help and calling out for a rope.
When she entered the bathroom with the rope, she found her husband in a bloody fight with the 9 foot long python. The ordeal lasted half an hour, until finally he was able to escape. He described the struggle later that day when recovering at the hospital.
“All of a sudden, while I was holding it, it began to lose some strength. So I used my hand to pry open its mouth. Then the snake released its grip by itself.”
He managed to use the rope to tie it to the bathroom door before passing out.
While Boonmakchuay received stiches for his 3 inch wound, rescue workers arrived to deal with the snake, whose body was still stuck in the toilet.
They had to remove the whole toilet from the house, and use a hammer to free the snake’s long body.
Authorities thinks that the python entered the home through a pipe leading to the toilet. It will be released back to nature.
Boonmakchuay is expected to fully recover, and is left with heck of a story to tell. Sometimes fact does beat fiction.
