WATCH: Sanders Calls Out Clinton’s Arrogance, Says ‘You’re Looking At The Guy’ To Take On Trump (VIDEO)

On Thursday evening, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where he discussed the current state of the 2016 election.

Kimmel joked about how he’d facilitated a possible debate between Sanders and fellow presidential candidate, Donald Trump (R-N.Y.)  the night before, saying:

“I’ve already brought one Democrat and one Republican together, you and Donald Trump. I really feel like I can continue this in Congress. I build bridges, I don’t build walls!”

Getting down to more serious business, Kimmel asked Sanders about his original plans to debate former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in California.

“Yeah, we had reached an agreement for a number of debates, including one here in California, unfortunately, and I think, not appropriately, Secretary Clinton decided not to go forward.”

Kimmel pressed Sanders,

“Do you understand why she did that? Does it make sense politically to kind of skip that debate?”

Sanders then proceeded to tell Kimmel it was “insulting” for Clinton to back out of her previous debate commitments:

“No it doesn’t. And first of all, I think it’s kind of insulting to the people of the largest state in the United States of America not to come forward and talk about the issues, the serious issues, that impact the state and impact the country. So I’m disappointed that she chose not to go forward.”

Kimmel went on to show Sanders a clip of a CNN interview where Clinton stated she will be the Democratic presidential nominee, and that it was in fact “already done.”

Sanders, obviously insulted, responded by holding up his finger and thumb, saying:

“Ooooh, just a tinge of arrogance there.”

Sanders went on to say that the people of Indiana, West Virginia and Oregon – where he won presidential primaries – don’t quite agree with Clinton.

“I kind of think that on June 7th, the people of California will have a message for Secretary Clinton … I think if the Democrats want the candidate who is most likely to defeat Trump and beat him badly, I think you’re looking at the guy,”

Sanders concluded after referencing several recent polls that found him better prepared to take on Trump as opposed to Clinton in the general election.
