Is This The Most Racist Television Commercial Ever Made? (Video)

A TV commercial that aired recently in China is causing reverberations around the world due to the blatant racism in the ad.

The spot for China’s Qiaobi laundry detergent has been called the most racist commercial ever made. In it, an Asian woman is doing laundry when a black man appears. He has paint on his face and clothes.

After flirting for a few seconds, the man makes a move to kiss the girl, who proceeds to put a laundry detergent pack into his mouth. She then forces the black man into the washing machine.

When the wash cycle ends, the woman extracts a pale-skinned Asian man from the machine. Take a look:

The website Shanghaiist reports the commercial is being shown on TV and in movie theaters in China, and it adds:

“Thanks to traditional beauty standards valuing white skin, many Chinese people have a well-established phobia of dark skin which unfortunately also breeds racist attitudes towards people of African descent, who are viewed by some as ‘dirty’ simply because of their skin tone.”

No matter the reason for the sudden emergence of this commercial, it is indeed about as offensive as anything you’ll ever seen anywhere.
