Republican Nut Jobs Want To Make Us A Theocracy (VIDEO)

Yes, you read that correctly. These right wing nut jobs are trying to establish Christianity as the official religion of the United States.

In case these extremists have forgotten, this is what the First Amendment says:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Right there in the first line it says we cannot have any laws establishing a particular religion for the country.

Right Wing Watch reported that Christian nationalist and anti-gay extremist David Lane had this to say about religion:

“Egregious and scandalous is the Church’s submission to secularists, and the resignation of America’s Founder’s mission, ‘We do hereby Dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth.'”

Right Wing Watch called him an extremist, so he must be bad.

This is not the first time Lane said nasty things about religion in this country. Right Wing Watch reports Lane said the “Separation of Church and State” is a “lie” and a “fabricated whopper” used to stop,

“Christian America – the moral majority – from imposing moral government on pagan public schools, pagan higher learning and pagan media.”

Sadly, David Lane is an influential figure for the Republican Party, and people are listening to him. This man is trying to establish Christianity as the religion of this country. No matter how many times you tell them otherwise, these people think that we were founded on Christian values.

There are many quotes from the Founding Fathers on this subject, such as this gem from John Adams:

“We should begin by setting conscience free. When all men of all religions shall enjoy equal liberty, property, and an equal chance for honors and power we may expect that improvements will be made in the human character and the state of society.”

No, our Founding Fathers did not want us to be a Christian nation. We are a nation of many different belief systems; we need to give equal rights to everyone of any faith (or lack thereof).

Here is a RWNJ, David Barton, giving his definition of a theocracy:
