If there are any more ardent cheerleaders and apologists for Donald Trump than MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, I sure haven’t seen them yet. Brzezinski and Scarborough interview the Donald nearly every morning, and they never miss an opportunity to kiss his privileged ass.
That’s what makes what transpired earlier today on “Morning Joe” so odd. One of the hosts actually confronted Trump on something. It was Brzezinski, who usually just sits, nods, and smiles as if she’s been recently lobotomized. Specifically, Brzezinski called out Trump for this tweet he sent out yesterday when an EgyptAir plane crashed over the Mediterranean Sea:
Looks like yet another terrorist attack. Airplane departed from Paris. When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? Great hate and sickness!

Brzezinski mentioned to Trump that former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates had commented that was not a wise thing to say before all of the facts were in. This led Trump to try and trash Gates, but Brzezinski defended Gates, calling him:
“One of the greatest foreign policy minds in history minds and I think the worry also is just how you will – be as president and present your positions and your words, and there are some concerns that you might be trigger happy with your words.”
Trump offered his patented response when anyone calls him too militaristic or too impulsive:
“I didn’t want to go into Iraq.”
But Brzezinski directed Trump back to his ill-timed tweet:
“For example, the tweet, that you sent out yesterday morning.”
Lacking self-awareness or a shred of compassion for the victims, Trump replied:
“What’s wrong with em?”
Brzezinski:
“I will tell you what some might say.”
And so she did, telling Trump:
“That it was very much generating hatred, focusing on the hatred and fear that terrorism brings to…And maybe perhaps that first tweet…”
Trump could not resist interjecting:
“I can practically guarantee who blew it up and when the plane went down…”
That’s when Brzezinski, for perhaps the first time in her life (certainly the first time in her career on-air) showed some guts and slammed Trump with this perfectly placed line:
“Donald, listen to yourself right now.”
Brzezinski also had this one for Trump:
“Is there any concern is that a lot of what you say, is focused on hatred and fear and sort of generating more anger and churning it up…That tweet, perhaps you might have thought about the families who were suffering first.”
No, he didn’t. Because it’s all about Donald all the time, and no one else matters in his world. And this gives us yet another reason (one of thousands) that Donald J. Trump is unfit to be President or even to collect the garbage: He’s a total idiot who foams at the mouth and stirs up hatred. And there are far too many of those in the world already.
