Woman Trolls Trump With ‘America Was Never Great’ Cap, Immediately Gets Death Threats

If you’ve been wondering lately what the United States will be like if Donald Trump becomes President, consider the case of a woman who lives in Staten Island, New York.

Krystal Lake works at Home Depot, and on Sunday she wore a custom-made cap emblazoned with the following slogan:

“AMERICA WAS NEVER GREAT”

This is obviously a slap at Trump’s famous slogan–of which there are also caps–in which Trump attempts to sell his big lie, that he will “Make America great again.”

Lake says within a few hours of wearing the cap, she began to get death threats and racial slurs being used against her:

“I feel it offended a lot of people because a lot of Trump supporters live in Staten Island. Trump is very rash and in your face, but when someone else has a message against him, his supporters can’t take the criticisms.”

The reaction on social media, Lake says, has been especially vile:

“People have been saying really racist things to me and that they’re going to come and find me, and that what I said is disgraceful and I hate America — but I don’t hate America. I know there are a lot of opportunities here. I just wish we would worry about making America better — not ‘great again.'”

Home Depot spokesman Stephan Holmes says employees aren’t allowed to wear political statements on their clothes while at work:

“We appreciate and understand the concerns of our loyal customers. In terms of the message, our associates are not permitted to wear items that reflect political statements. Unfortunately, no one on our management team saw her wearing the hat — otherwise, they would have had her remove it immediately.”

But Lake says she has seen other employees wearing buttons on their uniforms which proclaim their support for the GOP front-runner:

“But no one ever says anything to them.”

Of course, this incident is indicative of a larger trend you can see taking place with Trump and his supporters: They love to hurl invective and insults at others as they wave the banner of the First Amendment, but the minute someone turns the table on them, they begin whining. Trump is a thin-skinned snake who cannot take a punch, as will be amply demonstrated when he debates someone who will fight fire with fire.
