Fundie Leader Wants To Sell This Disgusting Item To ‘Christian’ Parents

It’s amazing how often those holier-than-thou church types can turn the Bible into a marketing manual.

This time we are seeing the return of “Pastor” Steve Haymond. This self-described “fundamentalist Christian” once ran a business called “Biblical Child Training.” It sold useful items like a “chastising stick.” You know, as in, “Spare the rod, spoil the child.”

Gag.

According to RawStory, ten years ago, this fine upstanding church guy was forced to close his business due to “external pressures and family reasons.”

But like so many creepy crawlies, he has once again emerged from under his rock.

Or at least partially emerged.

Haymond recently sent letters to his former clients, telling them that he has poked his head out of his hole and is once again offering “nearly indestructible” sticks for beating kids into submission. The letter was discovered by podcaster Phil Ferguson, who tweeted about it.

Not that last line.  Do NOT post on the internet.

Which is of course why Ferguson tweeted it out. On the internet. Where you are now reading it.

Take that, you Biblical child beater!

In the letter, Haymond said that the stick can be sold, but only on a private basis. He told his readers:

“Feel free to let other Biblically-minded parents know about this chastening instrument, but do not post anything about it on the internet and please exercise discretion as to who you tell about them…

“Although proper chastisement is legal, there are some (even among family members) who mistakenly believe that spanking of any kind constitutes child abuse. Our willingness and ability to make these instruments available to parents who believe in Biblical chastisement depends both on their responsible use by us as parents (see our tips) and care in who we tell about them. Thanks for your sensitivity on this.”

Isn’t it amazing to think that this monster is telling you to buy his product but keep it a secret? If it’s such a holy and Christian thing to do, then why do you have to run and hide, you damn coward?

Newsflash to all those “Biblically-minded” parents out there: if you beat your child with a nearly indestructible stick, you are absolutely committing child abuse.

Wouldn’t this be a perfect moment for Jesus to appear with a big indestructible stick of his own to start smiting people who make money by beating innocent kids?
