Trump Names His SCOTUS Nominees, One Frightening, Another Who Hates Trump (VIDEO)

Donald Trump announced today his list of potential SCOTUS nominees should Trump win the presidency (God help us all). One of them, a man named William Pryor, is a frightening example of Trump’s plan for our country. Another makes one wonder whether Trump did any research at all into these nominees.

The eleven judges who Trump feels fits the bill of his choice for SCOTUS nominees are: Steven Colloton of Iowa, Allison Eid of Colorado, Raymond Gruender of Missouri, Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania, Raymond Kethledge of Michigan, Joan Larsen of Michigan, Thomas Lee of Utah, William Pryor of Alabama, David Stras of Minnesota, Diane Sykes of Wisconsin, and Don Willett of Texas.

Trump laid out his criteria for a SCOTUS judge back in March.

“He said then the list would include judges ‘that everybody respects, likes and totally admires’ and ‘great conservative judges, great intellects, the people that you want.'”

William Pryor is more than just a conservative. He’s just slightly to the right of Attila the Hun.

Lambda Legal opposed even his nomination to the Federal Appeals Court, calling him “the most demonstrably antigay judicial nominee in recent memory.” It’s easy to understand why when one hears his views on this particular segment of American citizens.

In a 2003 legal brief arguing to uphold a Texas law criminalizing consensual LGBT sex, Pryor compared it to ‘polygamy, incest, pedophilia, prostitution, and adultery’ and argued that states should be free to prosecute gay people as criminals. He said the rights of LGBT people as a group are not protected by the Constitution.

‘This Court [the Supreme Court] has never recognized a fundamental right to engage in sexual activity outside of monogamous heterosexual marriage, let alone to engage in homosexual sodomy,’ Pryor wrote. ‘Such a right would be antithetical to the ‘traditional relation of the family’ that is ‘as old and as fundamental as our entire civilization.’

He also said homosexuality was harmful and that Texans needed protection from it.”

Pryor made it very clear that his views on same-sex relationships being equated with incest and pedophilia means he believes that LGBTQ folks should be arrested in their own homes, because the right to sexuality outside of a heterosexual relationship should not be protected just because “it happens behind closed doors.”

This is one of Trump’s picks to sit on the highest court in our country. This is who Trump wants making decisions about the rights of American citizens. To appease the far right, he would put this man on the Supreme Court of the United States, where he would potentially stay for many years. Pryor is only 54 years old.

While Pryor may be a surprising choice for frightening reasons, Justice Tom Willett of Texas is a surprising choice for some very funny ones.

In February Donald Trump cluelessly talked about Justice Samuel Alito signing bills, just like Trump’s sister who is also a judge, and who Trump was defending publicly. Willett had this response:

In March, Justice Willet tweeted this regarding Trump’s non-appeal to evangelical voters:

Trump’s jobs plan? Justice Willett felt this way about it:

Back in June, not long after Trump announced his bid for the presidency, Willett’s disparaging tweet was aimed at who Trump might choose to nominate for the Supreme Court:

Did Trump do any research at all into these names?
