Minnesota Bigots Are Taking Their Transphobic Anti-Target Rhetoric On The Road

Target has pissed off many conservatives with their inclusive bathroom policy. While some states are trying to force transgender people to use the bathroom for the sex they were born with, Target is allowing them to use the bathroom or fitting room that corresponds to their gender identity.

Even after all of the backlash, Target’s CEO is standing his ground. It’s good to see them standing against bigotry.

On Monday a truck with an anti-Target message pulled up to the state office building in Minnesota. This is the truck for the “Flush Target” campaign:

The campaign plans to visit all 75 Target stores in the state of Minnesota.

Minnesota chair for the Child Protection League Julie Quist said:

“Send Target a message — don’t shop where women and children’s emotional and physical safety and privacy are under assault.”

Claire Chretien, an organizer for the campaign said:

“I don’t feel safe knowing that at Target a 6-foot, 5-inch, 250-pound man can follow me into a bathroom and store employees won’t do anything about it.”

Target has also said that they are working to have unisex bathrooms in its stores. Many locations already have one.

Chretien used a lame excuse for this protest. She says that it is not about fear of the LGBT community:

“We are not boycotting Target out of fear of the LGBT community. Target can accommodate men that dress as women in a way that doesn’t put women and our young children at risk. Instead of seeking solutions that are safe for both transgender people and women and children, Target has embraced an approach that emboldens predators, threatens women’s safety, and undermines any basic sense of decency.”

These conservatives don’t seem to realize that being transgender is not just a man dressing like a woman or vice-versa. It is their entire identity that makes them transgender. They feel that they were assigned the wrong sex at birth. They just want to go to the bathroom in peace.
