Top Benghazi Committee Lawyer Says Trey Gowdy, GOP Are Full Of Sh*t

The top attorney for the House Select Committee on Benghazi said on four separate occasions–dating back to 2012–that there was absolutely the military or State Department could have done on the night the U.S. diplomatic compound was attacked, killing four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

According to just released transcripts from the Benghazi Committee hearings, Former General Dana Chipman told  former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta:

“I think you ordered exactly the right forces to move out and to head toward a position where they could reinforce what was occurring in Benghazi or in Tripoli or elsewhere in the region. And, sir, I don’t disagree with the actions you took, the recommendations you made, and the decisions you directed.”

To Bash, Chipman noted:

“I would posit that from my perspective, having looked at all the materials over the last 18 months, we could not have affected the response to what occurred by 5:15 in the morning on the 12th of September in Benghazi, Libya.”

And yet a spokesman for the committee, Matt Wolking, somehow tried to spin Chipman’s remarks as a Democratic attempt to hinder even more investigation by Gowdy and fellow Republicans:

“No matter how many dishonest letters Democrats waste time writing, Republicans will continue conducting a thorough, fact-centered investigation that includes all relevant witnesses, regardless of rank.”

It should be noted that Chipman is not the only investigator for the Benghazi Committee who has said Gowdy is running a witchhunt designed to harm Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. Bradley Polisaka, a military investigator who was fired from the committee, accused Gowdy of running a “partisan investigation.”

So far, the committee has been holding hearings for over two years, has spent 7 million, and interviewed at least 100 witnesses in an attempt to try and prove something all the evidence suggests was a completely unavoidable terrorist action.
