Conservative Values: Republican Candidate Posts Screenshot, Leaves Adult Content Tabs Open

What liberal doesn’t love watching a member of the GOP make a complete fool of themselves?! Honestly, I’ve yet to meet one.

Mike Webb is a Congressional-hopeful, running in Virginia’s 8th District, that refers to himself as a “conservative” Republican. As previously detailed in his campaign announcement:

“If we succeed in winning this race as a conservative Republican in the most liberal district in the nation and the most Democratic in the South, that will be a real revolution that will have national implications.”

Insistent upon taking care of all social media pertaining to his campaign, Webb took to Facebook to try and prove a point to potential supporters about finding employment.

He explained with this status update:

Seems fairly normal, right?

Well when Webb posted a screenshot of his computer detailing the point he was trying to make, he did so without remembering to exit a few highly important tabs:

The screenshot Webb posted to Facebook shows two adult-content websites open in the tabs of his internet browser! How awkward!

Of course Webb is getting absolutely roasted in the comment section on Facebook as followers noticed his mistake. As this is the internet, news tends to travel fast, so it appears there’s no escaping this mishap.

Take a look at some of the best comments so far:

What’s even more hilarious is that the Facebook status closes with the following statement:

“I am Mike Webb, and I am running for U.S. Congress. Honest.”

Honest? A little too honest if you ask me. I don’t think being “honest” and accountable to voters requires divulging just what gets you going. Yikes!

What’s even worse is that 12-hours after the post was originally made, it’s still up.

Webb has even taken to Facebook yet again to try and fix his mistake, but he just ended up going on a long-winded rant that really didn’t make much sense at all. He basically tried to say he was viewing adult-content as a “test.”

“Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the por*ographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FECfile application each time that it was loaded on the day of the filing deadline, as well as impact other critical campaign systems.”

In yet another update a few hours later, Webb, who’s made himself look like an absolute whack-job, claimed he “saw the Lord” and confirmed he’s remaining in the race for U.S. Congress:

So much for conservative values! It’ll be interesting to see the effect this has on the election, although it wouldn’t be the first time an elected official has been caught watching adult-content.
