Is Donald Trump Blacklisting GOP Establishment Experts?

In the early days of the presidential election,  higher ups in the GOP establishment promised people who went to work for the Trump campaign, they risked long-term damage to their credibility and ability to work within the GOP again.

Now months later, those people may have to eat their words, and if Donald Trump has his way, that may be all the get to eat.

As the Republican National Convention (RNC) draws near, some in the Trump camp are set on revenge by blocking participation of some long-standing political operatives.

According to sources, squarely in the crosshairs are any individuals or organizations affiliated with the Never Trump movement.

Katie Packer, a well-known Republican strategist, told Politico that being blacklisted was fine by her.

Packer, who helped run Our Principles PAC, said she has “no interest in working for (Trump), nor do those I know who worked against him,” so it wouldn’t bother her one bit to be on a Trump blacklist. “I just hope they put me at the top and spell my name correctly,” she said, adding, “Winning a presidential election is hard. … They should focus on that and worry about settling scores if they win.”

The RNC denies the existence of any list or any discussion with Trump campaign leaders, of vendors who may or may not participate.

While in the past Trump has exhibited thin skin and a penchant for striking back at perceived enemies, most agree that blacklisting experienced professionals is not in Trump’s best interest if he hopes to win against the Democratic party in the general election. His team is already behind in fundraising and lacks the traditional infrastructure that has been used to run presidential campaigns.

Under the best circumstances, he would want to have experienced professionals working on his behalf. Under the current circumstances, he needs them.
