Bernie Sanders To America: I’m Not Your Savior And Here’s Why (VIDEO)

Bernie Sanders headed to North Dakota on Friday, and addressed about 2,000 people in a speech at Fargo’s Ramada Plaza & Suites.

The rally received headlines in media because of the way Sanders responded to a supporter who shouted out “you” when Sanders wanted to talk about the “truths”:

“No, no, no. But it’s exactly NOT the truth. The truth is YOU. Not me.”

Sanders had to wait for the cheering to die down before he could explain further:

“If any person in here thinks that I’m coming to you as some kind of savior, and I’m going to do it all myself, you are wrong. No person, and not Bernie Sanders or anybody else can do it alone.”

This outlook is in stark contrast to that of the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, who has built his whole campaign on claims of being the one person able to “make America great again.”

Sanders addressed Trump’s claim himself, later on in the speech:

“See, there are people voting for Donald Trump, thinking he’s going to do it all. […] Wrong! The only way that real change every takes place is when millions of people stand up and fight back. That’s what this campaign is about.”

Sanders’ conclusion?

“We don’t need a savior, we need a political movement.”

The cheer among Sanders’ supporters was overwhelming. See ABC News Politics’ tweet with footage of the speech here:
