Dan Savage Has An Amazingly Gross Way To Protest The NC Bathroom Bill

Yesterday, rather than admitting he’d made a mistake and urging the state legislature to repeal the controversial anti-LGBT bathroom bill they recently passed, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory decided to double and triple down on the matter, filing suit against the Department of Justice for their insistence that the law violates federal civil rights protections.

In response, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the Justice Department would be going to court against North Carolina, announcing at a press conference:

“This action is about a great deal more than just bathrooms. This is about the dignity and respect we accord our fellow citizens and the laws that we, as a people and as a country, have enacted to protect them – indeed, to protect all of us.”

Writer and gay rights activist said yesterday he has an idea of how to protest the North Carolina law, known as HB2:

Now that would indeed be one hell of a protest statement! Just last week, Savage slapped down right-wing nutcase Ann Coulter on “Real Time With Bill Maher.” Coulter claimed the law could be used by predators to gain access to children using public restrooms. To that ridiculous assertion, Savage replied:

“A child molester doesn’t need to put on a dress to go into a bathroom. You can Google ‘sexually assaulted in a restroom’ and you get thousands of examples of cisgendered straight men.”

Something tells me this whole matter is about to get very messy for North Carolina and Governor McCrory. And I mean that literally and figuratively. Have fun disposing of all that urine, Pat.
