God Is Using Trump To Punish ‘Wicked America’ Say End-Times Christians

Donald Trump (R-N.Y.) announced his candidacy for president in June of 2015, and the world laughed. The religious right prophesied Trump’s eventual rise, citing bible passage after bible passage to claim God sent Trump to be president of the United States – and the world laughed some more. Trump then stopped the world’s laughing in its tracks by taking the Republican Party and becoming the presumptive GOP nominee.

Now the world is worried. Very, very worried. Some Christians couldn’t be happier, though. Welcoming a Trump presidency because, according to Alternet, in spite of his un-Christian ways, they believe God will use Trump to punish “wicked America.” Because… President Barack Obama.

Bible Passage Predicts End-Times Prophecy

There’s so many prophecies and predictions about Trump and President Obama to choose from both in the bible and out, it can get quite confusing.

End-times Christians and “New Evangelicals” can’t seem to agree with traditional Christian prophecies whether President Obama is, or will bring the anti-Christ, but they “know” he’s involved. One in five Republicans believe President Obama is the anti-Christ, while others think Trump is the anti-Christ, and more than one bible passage (scroll to the 11 point list at the bottom) describes Trump perfectly.

Self-proclaimed prophet, web designer, street preacher, and author of Now the End Begins, Geoffrey Grider, cites bible passage after bible passage in a recent article to prove his prophecy that God is punishing America with a Trump presidency is true. He welcomes that punishment because he believes the second coming of Jesus will happen faster.

God Follows GOP Talking Points?

Grider also claims President Obama and his administration would do anything to accomplish the end-times and that America set the ball rolling to experience God’s punishment by electing the “Muslim-raised and Marxist leaning” President Obama in 2008 and 2012. He says this is only one of the “real reasons” God is punishing America,

God is angry that the Republican Party wasn’t willing to “keep him [President Obama] in check.”

What did President Obama do to piss off God? The president not only tried to give everyone healthcare – including women – but he also denounced President George W. Bush’s fuzzy math, and put his expensive Iraq war on the books. President Obama even went so far as to refuse to discriminate against Muslims and undocumented workers. Just your usual love thy neighbor stuff, that’s all…

It sounds like he’s saying God follows GOP talking points, doesn’t it? Things get even weirder, though.

As Grider explains, the 2016 primaries solidified God’s punishment because some Americans chose a fake “Christian president” with Mormon and Dominionist ties.  He is referring to Senator Rafael Ted Cruz (R-Texas), of course, and he might be right.

Sen. Cruz claims he’s Southern Baptist, and the only “Conservative Christian,” but Evangelicals became part of the “Dominionist cult movement” back in 2010, according to Right Wing Watch. Sen. Cruz also won over the Mormon vote in Utah, but that’s evidence of what, exactly?

God Helped Hitler, Why Not Trump?

You’d better believe God chose Trump, says Grider, because He chose the unGodly to do his work before.  For example, Grider says,

God allowed the demonic Adolf Hitler to create the Holocaust in order that Israel might be regathered in 1948 according to prophecy in the last days.”

In other words, Grider wants us to remember to forget that Hitler murdered 6 million Jews in the Holocaust? That God wanted the Holocaust to happen so the remaining Jews could create Israel? Maybe it makes sense if you think of God as a murderer, but I have to wonder how the remaining Jewish families would feel about this.

Grider cites Hebrews 12:26 (King James) to prove God chose Trump, but using that bible passage as evidence makes as much sense as Trump’s ramblings.

If God actually exists, He might “shake the earth” and “also the heaven,” but if I remember what the Lutheran church taught me correctly, He or She is an all knowing, all loving being who forgives – not one who thrives on power and fear.

It’s become obvious – and sad – how the religious right has managed to co-opt the loving Christian God, and turn Him or Her into a downright nasty, vindictive, angry son of a bitch eerily reminiscent of a certain bombastic non-politician who is hoping to be President of the United States.

Is it wishful thinking, or justification for acting unGodly? Either way, do we really have to wonder why millennials and the younger generations are abandoning Christianity like it was the plague?
