The political right is constantly reminding us that the likely Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, could be called to testify before the FBI about her email server.
Woo-hoo. Big doings, right? How awful for a presidential candidate to have to answer questions about an investigation.
Of course, there is absolutely no evidence that Mrs. Clinton, or any of her aides, would be charged with any crime at all. No one is likely to face any charges. No one will be put on trial.
So contrast this to the situation with the Republican nominee, Donald Trump. The Associated Press reports that Trump will face trial for his now defunct and widely discredited “Trump University.” The trial is schedule for Nov. 28, 2016, shortly after the November elections. Donald Trump is one of the witnesses who will be called to testify in the case.
Trump University, which was never at any point an accredited University, has been accused to taking tuition from students, but not delivering an actual education. Instead, the lawsuit claims that student paid up to $35,000 dollars for what amounted essentially to an infomerical. The students were encouraged to purchase more and more, but never delivering on the promise to teach them how to become successful entrepreneurs.
Trump is only one of a long list of witnesses who will be called to testify in the trial. He has consistently claimed that 98 percent of students surveyed were happy with the school. What he neglects to say is that the forms showing that satisfaction were gathered from students who were still enrolled and were not anonymous.
So, um, yeah, the people enrolled in the classes decided not to complain to the people who were supposed to be helping them to get really rich.
Get this: Donald Trump, our possible next President, has been sued at least 150 times in federal court. The Trump University cases are only the most significant.
Holy crap.
