WATCH: Trevor Noah Slams Donald Trump Nomination

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah wasted no time in reacting to Donald Trump’s presumptive nomination.

RawStory reports that the South African comedian had a lot to say about how Americans must be feeling today. Now that Kasich and Cruz have officially given up, it looks like Trump is the default nominee for the Republicans in this election.

Noah is relatively new to American TV, and said that he was used to being asked if he was “ready” to handle American politics.

“But now seeing all of this shit happen, I think I should have asked if you were ready. Yeah, because I’m from a Third World country. It looks like you are headed to one.”

Like a lot of us, Noah was feeling conflicted about Cruz dropping out, asking, “Is this a yay?” Good that Cruz is gone, bad that the only reason he lost is because Trump won. After all, this is kind of like:

“Finding out that your herpes is gone. But that’s because your dick fell off.”

With his usual gentle charm, Noah suggested that we all take a minute to let this scary reality sink in. He said that the last time the U.S. elected an outsider with no political experience, it was Dwight Eisenhauer:

“And that only happened because he beat Hitler. So back then you had to win World War II. Now you just have to win Twitter.”

Trevor blamed part of Trump’s success on the media. Looking back on the full primary season, he reminded us that the media just kept repeating over and over that there was no possible way that Trump could win.

Surprise.

It takes a pretty gifted comedian to get people to laugh at the fact that a foulmouthed, bigoted, narcissistic business failure is the best person the GOP could come up with.
