Rolling Stones SLAM Donald Trump, Sick Of Him Using Their Music

Donald Trump is no stranger to copyright violations. His latest presumptive move was to use the Rolling Stones song, “Start Me Up.” His rallies have included music from various rock stars.

Trump has used a couple of Rolling Stone songs before at rallies. “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Start Me Up” are some of his favorites. The band released a statement telling Trump not to use their music. Trump’s campaign has not commented on whether the band had given them permission.

He has been caught using two of Adele’s songs: “Rolling In The Deep” and “Skyfall.” I feel like “Skyfall” might have been a bit of foreshadowing.

Aerosmith threatened a lawsuit against Trump if the candidate did not stop using their music. The strongly-worded letter Trump received from the band said that having Trump use their music implied that Aerosmith had endorsed the candidate. They definitely did NOT endorse Trump.

Elton John has also complained about Trump’s use of the songs “Rocket Man” and “Tiny Dancer.” John definitely has a right to be mad since Trump has openly opposed marriage equality. The artist released a statement on the issue:

“Elton’s music has not been requested for use in any official capacity by Donald Trump. Any use of his music should not be seen as an endorsement of Donald Trump by Elton.”

Another artist, Everlast, has released a statement saying Trump should not be using his music. Everlast used to be the frontman for the band “House of Pain,” and Trump had been using their song “Jump Around.”

Technically, political candidates don’t have to get permission from the artist if they buy a blanket license. However, artists have the right to object and can take their songs off the list.
