BREAKING: 15-Year-Old Detonated Bomb At High School (VIDEO)

A high schooler in California detonated “some kind of bomb” at school today. It was some sort of homemade explosive. Officials responded to the threat against the school around 9:15 this morning. It was at San Pasqual Academy in Escondido.

The contraption did explode, but no one was injured. The school was locked down for a little while this morning while the bomb squad searched for other possible threats.

The school was deemed safe a little before 11 am. At that time, the school gathered the students into the gym and briefed them on what happened.

The student that made the bomb is now in Juvenile Detention for possession of a destructive device. The bomb appeared to be made out of bathroom products.

A teacher saw the device and picked it up in front of the student, who told her to get rid of the device because it would explode. The staff member tossed the device into some bushes outside, then the device exploded there. Another report said that the student was by himself and was seen throwing the device into the bushes by himself.

The school is a residential academy that serves around 180 students. It is a facility for foster children.

You know its bad when the only one tweeting about it is a journalist in London:

There are a few more tweets coming in now, but it’s still not much. You’d think that this kind of incident would be getting far more coverage.
