South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham hates Donald Trump.
Graham had been running for president as a Republican, but he bowed out of the race last winter. He indicated that he is not fond of Trump or Cruz, but he is going with Cruz. Recently, he was on the Daily Show recently talking about the party. He said to Trevor Noah:
“If Donald Trump carries the banner of my party. I think it taints conservatism for generations to come. I think his campaign is opportunistic, race-baiting, religious bigotry, xenophobia. Other than that, he’d be a good nominee.”
Yesterday, the Senator was on “Face The Nation.” He spoke about the race and the dangers of the Trump campaign. He expressed disappointment that John Boehner had endorsed Trump. Boehner referred to Cruz as Lucifer (much to the dismay of the Satanic Temple). Graham said:
“I think Lucifer is the only person Trump could beat in a general election.”
Graham spoke out against Trump’s isolationist foreign policy plans:
“I believe Donald Trump’s foreign policy is isolationism. It will lead to another 9/11.”
Graham also said that Trump:
“…is the most unelectable candidate we could put up against Hillary Clinton. Women and Hispanics hate his guts — for good reason.”
He calls Trump’s campaign “the cult of a strong-man that is nowhere near conservatism.”
He said that people who support Trump are destroying the party. He advised his colleagues to run far, far away from The Donald. Graham said that we should not be waging war with Islam and that we need to fight the radical Islamists. We should not be banning the Muslims from coming into the country because that is a group that could be fighting beside us.
