California Protest Turns Violent Due To Trump’s Hateful Rhetoric

Trump’s hateful rhetoric typically begets hate, and this was recently demonstrated in an anti-Trump protest that became violent. Hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside the OC Fair and Event Center for the California GOP convention Friday, ahead of Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance.

The road in front of the Hyatt Regency was occupied by the demonstrators, some of whom were carrying Mexican flags. The human blockade forced Trump’s motorcade to reroute and pull over along a concrete median, taking the back entrance of the hotel.

Being true to his racist inclination and anti-immigrant stance, Trump’s rhetoric again included an insulting comment:

“That was not the easiest entrance I’ve ever made. It felt like I was crossing the border.”

The GOP frontrunner also announced that he is nearing to the 1,237 votes to secure the party nomination.

Prior to the arrival of the GOP frontrunner, approximately two dozen demonstrators tried to go over the barriers near the hotel, but police officers were successful in stopping them. The door handles of some of the doors were locked with handcuffs from the inside, preventing the protesters from entering the premises.

As the protesters tried to get in, they chanted, “Get him out,” referring to Trump. The protesters tried to take down a barrier and converged at the entrance just outside the hotel, but the riot police used batons to drive away the protesters and prevent them from flooding inside.

Trump’s rhetoric has continued to provoke violence between his supporters and his opponents.

Trump’s rhetoric against immigrants and minorities has resulted in the alienation of many Americans. Trump has previously made the controversial statement that Mexico has been sending criminals to the United States.

Many of the top leaders of the Republican Party are now gradually accepting the likelihood that Trump will win the nomination.

This could prove to be a disastrous turning point not only for the GOP, but for the United States. Has the nation really fallen to its lowest point that a demagogue like Trump will now have a good chance of being elected to the highest and most powerful office?

The recent protest in California is foreshadowing a more serious social unrest that awaits a highly divisive Trump administration.
