If indeed the 2016 Presidential election does wind up being between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, you can count on Trump continually taking the low road in his attacks on Clinton. He proved that earlier this week when he said:
“If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get five percent of the vote. The only thing she’s got going is the women’s card, and the beautiful thing is, women don’t like her, okay, and look how well I did with women tonight.”
You did well with Republican women, Donald. But when it comes to Democrats and Independents, you don’t stand a chance. Your unfavorable rating among women is 70 percent. This is not only historically unprecedented, it also tells pollsters that you will lose in November by what could well be the largest margin in American electoral history. You will then go down in the books as the biggest loser EVER, something most of us have always suspected.
For her part, Clinton made a brilliant strategic move to counter Trump’s “woman card: remark: She said that Trump is actually attacking all women when he tries to tar and feather her with the “woman card” charge. This is how you defeat Trump: You use his words to enlarge the debate out into issues and statements he cannot possibly defend.
But Trump has also angered Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who may wind up running with Clinton as Vice President. Speaking to the Boston Globe, Warren remarked:
“Donald Trump clearly feels threatened by Secretary Clinton’s qualifications to be president so he’s attacking Hillary Clinton for being a woman. That’s what weak men do. It is an old story, and I don’t think the American voters will fall for it.”
Warren was asked if she thinks Trump is sexist. Her reply left no room for doubt as to where she stands on the Donald:
“That’s like asking if he has bad hair. He wears the sexism out front for everyone to see.”
So by all means, Donald, keep repeating that “woman card” line, and by the time November rolls around, 95 percent of women will hate your guts.
