Dangerous Dog Rescues Cute Hummingbird And The Two Become Best Friends (VIDEO)

Beware of cuteness overload watching this viral video of a man, a rescue dog, and a hummingbird living happily together. It wasn’t always like that.

The man, who’s name is Ed Gernon, adopted Rex a year ago. The rescue dog had been living a hard life on the streets, fighting other dogs and killing cats. Gernon described him as dangerous.

Hence his surprise, when only one month later, Rex became the rescuer.

Rex found a tiny, very sick hummingbird. Gernon thought the bird was dead as it didn’t move. It was covered in ants and was without feathers, but Rex wouldn’t move.

Fast forward one year and the bird, since then named Hummer, is now living a happy life together with Gernon and Rex.

But it took some work on Gernon’s part. To nurse Hummer back to life, Gernon had to feed the bird a sugary formula every fifteen minutes from sunup to sundown. He was a little surprised himself of how it played out:

“You find yourself doing stuff you’d never thought in a million years you would do.”

Gernon taught Hummer to fly using a hairdryer, she sleeps in his glasses and lets him pet and kiss her. Hummer takes baths in Rex’s water bowl, and doesn’t leave their side, even though Gernon thinks the time has come to spread her wings.

“It’s time for her to start mating, and I keep leaving the windows open thinking she’ll leave.”

But Hummer doesn’t leave and Gernon thinks it’s a miracle:

“I rescue this dog, he rescues the bird, the bird rescues all of us in a weird sense.”

Well, the three of them certainly seem to live in love and harmony with each other. Watch the video below and see for yourself:
