Bernie or Bust: After NY Primary, Campaign Is Determined As Ever

New York may not have met Bernie Sanders’ expectations, but the determined politician refuses to hand off the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton.

According to the New York Times, Sanders lost the primary in New York by a double-digit margin, but that does not mean that the Vermont senator is going to give up on the presidential race.

I believe that the people in every state in this country have a right to cast a ballot to determine who they would like to see as president of the United States, and equally important, the agenda that they want the Democratic Party to have,” Sanders said in an interview. “Do they want to address the issues of rampant poverty in this country, of massive income and wealth inequality?”

Sanders’ senior strategist, Tad Devine, acknowledged that while the millennial favorite’s campaign is reassessing its strategy for garnering public support, Sanders’ overall message is going to remain the same.

“Reassess does not mean that he’s not going to be part of this race,” Devine explained.

While the nomination is Sanders’ top priority, that doesn’t mean his efforts will end if he were to lose it.

“If I don’t win the nomination, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that a Republican does not get elected president of the United States,” Sanders said.

While Tuesday’s election was a disappointment for the Sanders’ campaign, his campaign’s efforts has not been for nothing. According to the Huffington Post, Sanders has won eight of the last 10 competitions, and while Hillary Clinton has been declining in the national polls, Sanders “is now tied or ahead by as many as five points.”

Polls reveal that the Vermont senator is the more electable nominee when compared to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. In fact, Sanders has retained a double digit lead over Trump for months. Clinton, on the other hand, leads Trump by a measly three points.

Although the Sanders campaign has hit a road block, Sanders’ enthusiasm and perseverance reveals that the presidential hopeful will not stop until he has exhausted all of his efforts.
