BREAKING: Music Legend Prince Dead At 57 (TWEETS)

We have lost a musical genius today. Prince has passed away at the age of 57. Police were called to Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota at 9:43 this morning. It was a studio Prince like to record in.

Prince was hospitalized for a couple of weeks with the flu, but he had been discharged this week. On April 14, he was on tour and his jet made an emergency landing in Illinois because of the flu. The cause of death has not been confirmed yet.

He was also having hip problems; doctors were saying that he would have to have both hips replaced. Prince refused because of his Jehovah’s Witness beliefs.

Here is the last tweet that came from his account dated April 18.

The celebrity tribute tweets are pouring in:

The singer was born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis. He had many hits including “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss,” “Purple Rain,” and others. He earned seven Grammys, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar for his movie “Purple Rain.” His first album was “For You,” which was released in 1978. His self-titled EP was released in 1979. He had a number one on the Billboard Charts top 200 with his album, “Purple Rain,” in 1984. He beat out Thriller for the best pop/rock album at the American Music Awards in 1985.

During his over thirty-five-year career he put out 39 solo studio albums, and he never stopped recording. He also is known for creating the “Love Symbol” in protest against Warner Brothers. You can see the symbol on his guitar in the video below. He released his last album with the label in 1996; it was called “Chaos and Disorder.”

He performed in the rain at the Super Bowl in 2007. He sang several songs including the Foo Fighters’ “Best of You,” and naturally he finished with “Purple Rain.” When asked if he was okay with performing in the rain, he responded, “Can you make it rain harder?”
