A man in Scottland has posted a video to YouTube that shows his girlfriend’s dog turned into a Nazi. In the video, the pug responds to the phrase “gas the Jews,” gives the Nazi salute, and stares lovingly at videos of Hitler.
Markus Meechan, 28, is now facing some serious backlash after he posted the video.
Meechan stated that he made the video because his girlfriend is always “panting and raving” about her pup. So, he decided to turn him into the “least cute thing [he] could think of, which is a Nazi.”
The pug, ironically named Buddha, is shown multiple times in the video performing trained responses to Nazi commands.
Meechan asks the dog, “Do I gas the Jews?” and the pug is shown responding with excited wiggles and tail wagging. This is repeated multiple times.
Buddha is shown multiple times ignoring his voice until he says the specific words, “Gas the Jews,” where the pug then perks up excitedly.
The video then shows Hitler on a video screen, with the dog perched in front of it, watching lovingly.
Buddha then responds to the command “Sieg Heil” (a Nazi chant meaning “Hail Victory”) by lifting his paw in a Nazi salute.
After the video sparked controversy the man posted another video in which he states that the video was a joke meant for his close friends, and that he does not condone Nazism.
Meechan states,
“I don’t believe in anything I was saying . . . The sole purpose was only to annoy my girlfriend. I actually hate racism in any way, shape or form.”
Meechan, here’s an idea! Next time let’s try practical jokes that doesn’t make light of one of the worst genocides in history.
Here’s to hoping this guy doesn’t have children. Let’s just keep a look out on Youtube for his future children, maybe dressed up in blackface?
