WATCH: NC Hospital Volunteer Loses Her Racist Mind On Camera

It may be unclear how the confrontation initially began, but a hospital volunteer’s reaction proves without a doubt that what was caught on camera was a racist tirade.

At Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Isaiah Baskins caught a hospital volunteer’s abusive rant against him and his children on camera. The language used in the video is not suitable for work and may be disturbing for some viewers.

When Baskins and his family went to the medical center for one of their children’s appointments, they fell victim to a crazed volunteer who attacked them in the presence of their children. The volunteer tossed his child’s stroller out the door (without the child in it, thank goodness) and screamed repeatedly about being able to see “gray underwear” while screeching for the man to get his kids out.

Presumably, it was Baskins’s underwear to which the volunteer was referring, but why it incensed her so or why a child should be denied medical attention because of it is unclear…until you hear Baskins’s description of the events and witnesses’ description of the encounter to security. Baskins’s alleges that the volunteer called him a “n*gger” before he began filming, and the volunteer’s actions do little to refute that the confrontation was being fueled by racist anger.

After screaming to security over the phone about Baskins needing to “pull his pants up,” the volunteer screams for guards to “take these people out of here!” She then clearly proceeds to physically attack the man while screaming hysterically.

“Get your damn underwear out of here!”

When security arrives to diffuse the situation and the volunteer is asked what the problem is, she screams again about underwear, pointing at Baskins.

“Gray underwear!”

“Who cares?” asks the security guard.

“I don’t want to see it!”

Even the security guard agreed with Baskins that “something is wrong with her.”

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has since released an apology, but that doesn’t take the image of a crazed woman screaming at two parents trying to get medical attention for their child out of the minds of the children who were present, nor does it erase the memory of the parents who were so viciously attacked.

“Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is shocked and appalled at the behavior demonstrated by our volunteer in this video. We deeply regret this and have apologized to those affected by this behavior. This behavior does not reflect our identity or our values. This individual is no longer a volunteer with our organization.

Wake Forest Baptist is dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all, with respect, dignity and compassion. This commitment is unwavering and reinforced every day by our dedicated faculty and staff.

Can we all stop pretending now that racism is a thing of the past?
