GOP Lawmaker BUSTED For DUI With 4 Kids In Car

State Rep. Tom Taylor is a Republican from Dunwoody, Georgia, and earlier this month he was pulled over for going 72 mph in a 45-mph zone with four children in his vehicle. But wait, the story gets more frightening from this point.

Turns out Taylor was also drinking, and had a blood-alcohol content of .225, which is nearly three times higher than the legal limit of .08, and was also legally carrying a gun on his hip at the time of his arrest. Man, that must have been one hell of a party Rep. Taylor was either going to or coming from, huh?

After his arrest hit the local media, Taylor issued the standard mea culpa statement:

“I profoundly regret this serious mistake. There’s no one to blame but me, and I greatly appreciate the professionalism of the officers involved. This was my first run-in with the law in my life, and it will also be my last.”

The arrest may also cost Taylor more than just embarrassment and his driver’s license: He is facing a May 24 primary challenge from Republican Republican Tom Owens.

Police say Taylor strongly denied he was drinking when he was pulled over for speeding. They soon found an empty water bottle that smelled strongly of alcohol in Taylor’s car. Taylor had already refused to comply with a field sobriety test. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of an open container of alcohol, and speeding.

So much for those good old GOP “family values.”
