OMG! You Can Make Obama Say What You Want!

It took eight years to get it to us, but finally the website of our dreams has arrived. Maybe you didn’t dream about this one. … but you’re going to love it all the same!

At a new site called Talk Obama To Me,* users can type in virtually any text and hear the President repeat it. The site was developed by Ed King, a PhD candidate from Stanford University. King’s academic area of focus is linguistics.

YouTube users and amateur sound engineers have created parodies of President Obama in the past. A quick search of Google can turn up any number of homemade creations featuring the 44th President of the United States.

But the world has never seen anything quite like this. King’s creation is the perfect complement for one the best orators of our time. It’s possible to make Obama recite Shakespeare, read a love letter to your partner, or even tell you what’s on the school lunch menu for today. The possibilities are endless … almost.

The site pulls from thousands of video clips available on the Internet. From all of the video data out there, the program creates a montage of Barack Obama speaking what you typed. The limitations will be in words that he’s not used before on video. That’s not all bad as it should prevent mischievous types from making the President say horrible or profane phrases.

No word yet whether the real Barack Obama has seen the site.

*Note the site is currently taking a lot of traffic but King is working to handle the newfound fame of his online toy.
