It’s On Now: A BEATLE Is Boycotting North Carolina!

We have been talking a lot about the HB2 law against transgender people that was passed in North Carolina. They are requiring people to use the bathroom that corresponds to the gender on your birth certificate. Many people have jumped on the bandwagon of boycotting the state until they repeal this idiotic law.

The governor has piled on some more hate with an executive order issued yesterday. The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, has cancelled his concert in North Carolina. Six senators have even joined in trying to get the NBA to move it’s AllStar game out of the state. Even a porn website has restricted users from North Carolina. PayPal has abandoned its plan to build a new facility there. A state representative has called for repealing the law. The governor of New York has cancelled all state-funded travel to North Carolina.

Now it’s escalating. Ringo Starr has cancelled his show in the state as well. This is serious when a Beatle hates your laws! Starr said:

“I’m sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love. How sad that they feel that this group of people cannot be defended.”

“This law opens the door to discrimination everywhere by limiting anti-discrimination laws against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

North Carolina’s governor is going to cut back some of the bad measures in this law, but he is standing his ground on the bathroom use restrictions. Obviously, this guy doesn’t take negative feedback very well. His state is likely to lose a lot of money that these companies and performers could’ve brought in to the state.
