You Won’t Believe What This Governor Did To Get His Wallet Back

We’ve all been there. You’re hanging out with friends and having a great time, but suddenly things get kind of heated and you have to storm out. Unfortunately, after you leave you realize that you forgot something. Your favorite coat, baseball cap, or maybe your phone. After storming out though, you can’t exactly go back in for it, it’s just too awkward.

Following a huge fight with his then-First Lady, Gov. Robert Bentley forgot his wallet at his Tuscaloosa home. Understandably, Bentley wasn’t able to just walk back in after he left in a huff, so he sent his executive security chief to retrieve the wallet and return it to him in Gulf Shores.

And in a brilliant use of a state resources, his bodyguard used a state helicopter to return the governor’s wallet to him.

While Bentley’s executive security chief assures folks that use of the helicopter followed the state law enforcement’s chain of command and the head of the agency approved it’s use, some sources disagree. According to former Secretary Spencer Collier, the governor often granted permission for certain individuals to use aviation equipment without consulting the chief of law enforcement. From WKRG the former ALEA :

“I was never informed about the wallet and did not approve the use of ALEA Aviation to retrieve it. The Chief of Protective Services was given the authority by Governor Bentley to utilize aviation on behalf of the Governor without going up the chain of command to me and the Chief did so routinely.”

Perhaps the Republican party is right. It IS frivolous spending that’s causing all of this debt, but they’re the ones pushing for it.
