‘We Won’t Back Down’ From A Fight: Trump Thanks His ‘Biker Friends’

Donald Trump isn’t just relying on local law enforcement or even the Secret Service to police his rallies anymore. The GOP front-runner is now bringing his own enforcers by way of some of his most colorful and orthodox supporters.

Bikers for Trump is a grassroots movement that has grown to 20,000 members in multiple states. And while the group’s official website states that “Bikers for Trump™ does not endorse violence nor do we endorse confrontations with paid protesters at Trump for President appearances,” the group is not shying away from confrontations.

Chris Cox, a 47-year old chainsaw artist and founder of the Bikers for Trump, expanded on the group’s stance on violence recently when speaking with The Daily Beast.

“We are not looking for a fight, but at the same time, if someone starts one, we won’t back down.”

Cox also shared that the group is planning some major rallies in New York in the coming weeks before heading to California for one last big event. The California Republican Primary is set for June 7th where 172 delegates will be at stake.

In a move that is classic Trump, supporters are claiming that they are the ones being attacked by “paid” protesters at rallies. A site that is pro-Trump and known for its xenophobic messaging is Bare Naked Islam. The owner of that site posted the following in regards to Bikers for Trump:

“THANK YOU TO ALL PATRIOTIC BIKERS! It’s about time Americans unite against the evil tactics paid for by establishment puppet masters. We all have rights and a constitution! It’s time to stop the corruption and misguided violence brought on from establishment ORGANIZED thugs.”

The site is home to multiple videos attacking Islam, immigration policies, and advocating a variety of ways the average American can “jihad-proof” their home (more guns and better hiding places). The site was launched earlier this year and appears to have had over one million visits.

With this comment and others, it’s clear many are not making the long ride simply to hear their guy speak in person. The Bikers are showing up in force for crowd control and to make sure any dissenting voices are squashed. To read what is being written on the group’s social media channels, it seems unlikely they are looking to have a debate of ideas with any protesters.

One pro-Trump group on Facebook was all too eager recently to point out their use of the intimidation factor when gathering in public.

The page administration added this caption:

“Oddly enough, neither the Black Lives Matters crew nor the flag stomping, Sanders socialists showed up. Probably because there aren’t any ‘safe zones’ in real life!”

The Bikers for Trump, or Patriotic Bikers as they are sometimes referred to, is even getting their own merchandising. The online store Fandezvous has Biker-related t-shirts now available on the Make America Great Again page. For less than $25, anyone can own a brand new t-shirt featuring a menacing skull and bones with Trump 2016 on it.

But it’s not just a few t-shirts that are the cause for concern, a new tone is clearly being struck by some members of the Trump camp.

Trump has recently acknowledged and offered his gratitude to “his biker friends” at a recent event in Wisconsin. While again there is no clear direct link to Trump’s official campaign, he continues to surround himself with fringe groups and hate mongers. They are attracted to his message and among his most ardent supporters. So while Trump can start to backpedal on his feverish pitch and shrug his shoulder in false innocence, there is little denying that he is a virtual lightning rod for homegrown radicals.
