WATCH These Kids Use Genius Trick To Foil Robbers

Some adults are pretty quick to criticize kids as undisciplined, out of control, or selfish. You’ve heard the remarks I’m sure, “Kids today,” they say. How about, “In my day we’d never dare behave the way these kids do!”

The next time I hear this kind of thing, I’m going to tell the story of what a group of young London area children did to come to the aid of the local police.

A group of kids were out in a field in the village of Capel (not far from the city of London) hunting for Easter eggs with their families when they noticed a commotion. Surrey Police had been called around 2 p.m. for a possible break-in at an abandoned building in the village. As the cops arrived, the culprits took off on foot, heading straight toward the Easter egg hunt.

The two men were seen racing across the nearby farmland, pursued by the police. As the men fled, they outpaced the officers, using their head start to avoid capture.  The officers lost sight of the would-be burglars and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service was dispatched to locate them from the air.

The children were initially intrigued by the unusual excitement erupting in their small village. Pretty quickly, they figured out that things were not going the way the cops were hoping. The quick-thinking youngsters fell to the ground and formed themselves into the shape of an arrow, pointing the helicopter toward the pair of suspects. The pilot saw them stretched out on the muddy soil and quickly radioed in to the foot patrol.

Given the right kind of information from the young crime-stoppers, the police quickly caught up with the bad guys. NPAS Sergeant Paul Sochon stated:

“I’m sure the last thing the group of daring Capel residents expected when they set up on Friday afternoon was to abandon their Easter egg hunt to assist us in a police search, but the initiative they demonstrated proved to be invaluable.”

The helicopter pilots later landed in the field to thank the intrepid youngsters by taking a photo and sharing some chocolate.

Yup. Kids today. Outsmarting the grownups and saving the day.
