Shocking: Trump Actually Admits He Made A Mistake

Did Donald Trump seriously just admit that he made a mistake?

In the back and forth debacle over the hopeful first ladies, from the slut shaming to the dirty little secrets, Trump has not apologized for retweeting the horrific photo of Heidi Cruz next to a very beautiful picture of his wife Melania.

Many saw this act as Trump’s revenge over the anti-Trump Super PAC Make America Awesome’s release of a nude photo of Melania.

When asked about his retweet, Trump has attempted to claim that the picture of Heidi wasn’t even all that bad. At the same time, he kept arguing “they started it”– but the “they” he referenced is the Ted Cruz campaign. Despite reporters advising Trump that the Cruz campaign had nothing to do with it, Trump did not relent.

In a “rare moment of contrition,” however, Trump told Maureen Dowd of the New York Times on Saturday that his retweeting of the Heidi Cruz photo was a mistake. He stated:

If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t have sent it.”

His admission comes only after Dowd explained how his retweet changed her sister’s mind about voting for him. So, his sincerity in believing his retweet was a mistake is, at best, questionable.

Maybe Trump finally realizes that women are not supporting him as much as he proclaims. Maybe because of this realization he is backtracking to regain lost votes and/or to hopefully gain some votes from those who remain undecided.

Of course this is speculation and perhaps Trump just understands how idiotic it was to retweet the photo. On the other hand, this is Trump we’re talking about; even in his interview with Dowd, Trump was still making his 5-year-old argument that “they started it.”

Given his continuation of this childish whining, I highly doubt that Trump is truly remorseful for the retweet.
