Arkansas Election Official Pulls Gun On Black Man For Disagreeing With Him (Video)

A white lawmaker in Arkansas pulled a gun on a former election official who happens to be black at an election commission meeting earlier this week.

Video shows Jefferson County Republican election commissioner Stu Soffer pulling a handgun out of his pocket and clutching it to  his side during a disagreement with former Democratic commissioner Ted Davis.

In the video, Davis, who is black, can be heard telling Soffer:

“No one’s talking to you! That’s right buddy, no one’s talking to you!”

Commission Chairman Mike Adam then approaches Davis and says:

“Excuse me, Mr. Davis, step back and leave him alone, do not attack him.”

Yet at no point does Davis in make physical contact with or threaten Soffer.

Later, when Soffer was criticized for pulling a gun during a debate, he claimed he felt threatened by Davis:

“I’m 74 years old and I was in fear of my life.”

Soffer also issued a statement to a local newspaper saying that he drew the gun because he “didn’t have a good feeling” about the situation and added that Davis approached him with a “weird look on his face.  He also claimed that Davis appeared to be in a “trance.”

Police responded to the Thursday incident. They made a report and left without making any arrests.

Lawrence Walker, an attorney representing Davis, said his client is considering legal action against Soffer.
