Republicans’ Desperation Shows As Ann Coulter Turns On Trump

Once a rabid Donald Trump Supporter, Ann Coulter now claims Trump is “mental,” revealing how desperate the Republican party is.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Republican Party must indeed be desperate if they have to resort to calling in Ann Coulter to denounce Donald Trump. Once a very vocal and loyal supporter of Trump, Ann Coulter told Milo Yiannopoulos on his new podcast on Monday, “Our candidate is mental.”

This comes as quite a shock because, up until that point, no one would ever accuse Coulter of having standards especially when she would vehemently defend Trump to anyone with a microphone. “Trump won me over with that Mexican Rapist speech.” she divulged earlier this year, admitting up until then she didn’t know much about him. When Trump was criticized for encouraging violence towards those who may protest him, Coulter was there trying to share the spotlight by seconding his call for violence with a call of her own. Last July, she was quoted as saying:

“Trump is different, We have been lied to for 30 years about immigration. That’s why Trump is striking this chord. He’s attractive. He’s tall. He’s hilariously funny. I think he could be not only a nominee who could win but a third party candidate who would win.”

She even went so far as to call him the only hope left for “the last genuinely Christian country on earth.”

Now, she’s voicing her displeasure of Trump’s Tweets about Heidi Cruz, the wife of the candidate Coulter once ripped for not being “a natural born citizen.” What would make her suddenly change her tune? Are we supposed to believe she was struck with a bolt of feminist lightening and an overwhelming need to defend Heidi Cruz when she did absolutely nothing for Megyn Kelly? Not a chance. Did she come down with a chronic case of conscience and can no longer live the lie? It’s highly doubtful.

It’s  more likely the “Powers That Be” within the GOP had a “come to Jesus” meeting with Coulter or struck a deal with her to help them push Cruz into the nomination. Maybe it was both. Whatever the reason, it’s clear desperation is now calling the shots for the beleaguered Republican Party.

Holly Riley, aka Bimbolinaho, is a born again humorist and recovering digital hoarder. Once upon a time, she was a musical theatre performer, who was betrayed by her own body and forced into early retirement when her knees gave out. Then, fate thought it would be funny to really screw her over by dropping her into a tech support job in the middle of a high end retail store. No, seriously. She truly believes whoever said, “Blondes have more fun!” needs to be punched in the throat because they’ve obviously never worked in retail. Writing has always been second nature to her, including winning several state level awards in high school for her original oratories she performed on her debate team. She never really entertained the idea of writing being a profession because it seemed to lack the necessary street cred. However, that didn’t stop her from developing a strong online presence by guest blogging for sites like theCompostr, Medium and Buzzfeed and interviewing with Entertainment Weekly and The Huffington Post for featured community guest writers. She does Facebook and Tweet and Instagram, but writing her blogs,“The Adventures of Bimbolinaho”, and "The Blonde Byte" are what keep her from ending up on a roof with a rifle.
