WATCH: Gorilla Goes Ape Sh*t at Nebraska Zoo (VIDEO)

In a scene that you’d swear was being filmed for the next Planet of the Apes movie, a large silverback gorilla took a running leap at unsuspecting Nebraska Zoo visitor in Omaha.

The blissfully ignorant patron has a well-constructed Plexiglas viewing window to thank for his good fortune. The nearly 200-lbs gorilla can be seen taking a running leap at the man, only to be stopped by the glass. All while someone in the background casually remarks “nice.”

While primate experts will note that gorillas are not typically territorial or aggressive, this doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. Back in January, Fox News reported an incident where two gorillas were fighting at the same zoo. Again it was a patron who was able to capture the behavior on video.

All of this comes less than year after the same species of gorilla was responsible for terrifying a visiting family in another video that went viral.

In April of last year, a silverback gorilla took exception to the actions of a seven-year old girl. In what may have been a case of mistaken intentions, the gorilla charged and broke the glass. The horrified family fled and thankfully no one was injured. Again, it was the Nebraska Zoo in Omaha where the drama unfolded.

Zoo officials seemed to brush off the incident was a non-issue. According to Dan Cassidy, the zoo curator, it’s not unusual for male gorillas to “show how tough they are.” He even went so far as so dismiss the fact that the animal had shattered the protective glass noting that damage can be done over years of stress.

At this time, it’s not clear if the gorilla featured in the most recent video is the same one involved in the two prior reported acts of aggression. What does appear evident is that the Nebraska Zoo may not have control over some of their largest animals.
