North Korea Video Shows Attack On US

North Korea has released a new video depicting a nuclear attack on Washington D.C.

The four-minute video, entitled “Last Chance,” shows a submarine ballistic missile landing in front of the Lincoln Memorial and blowing up the US Capital building. A message reading “If US imperialists budge an inch toward us, we will immediately hit them with nuclear [weapons]” flashes on the screen in Korean as the American flag burns behind it.

North Korea released the video, which begins with footage of historic US-Korean relations, including images from the Korean War, the capture of US spy ship Pueblo, and the first confrontation of the hermit kingdom’s nuclear program in the 90’s, on the North’s state propaganda website DPRK Today.

The release of the video comes on the heels of a recent string of strict US and UN sanctions following North Korea’s 4th nuclear test in January, and have resulted in increasingly threatening rhetoric coming out of Pyongyang, including calls for even more nuclear weapons.

This is not the first video of its kind to come out of North Korea. A strikingly similar video was released in 2013 following a nuclear test and satellite launch, and earlier this week another propaganda video showed the North blowing up the presidential office of South Korean President Park Geun-Hye.

Kim Jong-Un, the North’s volatile leader, has been developing nuclear capabilities for some time now, though it is widely believed that he has not yet advanced enough to pose any significant threat to the US homeland.
