At the moment, Donald Trump may well be one of the two or three most dangerous men on the face of this planet. Before you shake your head, chuckle, and turn away, hear me out on this one.
I offer as evidence Trump’s appearance on the Sunday ABC News show “This Week,” where the current GOP front-runner was asked point-blank by host Jonathan Karl this very specific question:
“So let me ask you, you said that Islam is at war with us. A lot of people wonder, given some of your proposals, whether or not you would go the next step towards internment camps. And I know you’ve never proposed that. But let me just ask you here now, would you categorically rule out the idea of internment camps for American Muslims?”
Did Trump seek to distance himself from such an idea and pivot in a way that better positions him for the general election? No. Instead, he started with two little words: “No, but.” When you hear that, especially from Donald Trump, you can just about bet there’s some real choice horse manure about to be spread in front of you. And Trump did not disappoint, adding:
“–rule it out but we would have to be very vigilant. We’re going to have to be very smart. We’re going to have to be very rigid and very vigilant. And if we’re not very, very strong and very, very smart, we have a big, big problem coming up. We’ve already had the problem. Check out the World Trade Center, OK, check out the Pentagon. We’ve already had the problem. But I would — I would say you have to be extremely strong. You have to keep your eyes open.
“And by the way, Muslims in our country have to report bad acts, OK? When you look at what happened in Europe, in Brussels, where many, many people knew this thug from last week, was living right in the midst of them, right only a few doors down from where he was living previously, they knew he was there. Nobody reported him.”
So he does NOT rule out internment camps for American Muslims! He does not think it’s such a bad idea!
This man is very dangerous and he must be defeated by all of us on a daily basis, but most especially on Election Day should he happen to be the GOP nominee for the White House.
