Anonymous, the hacktivist group, seemingly surfaced again a couple of days ago, when a video was released which threatened to expose Ted Cruz. It hinted that the Republican presidential hopeful would have a secret lifestyle his followers know nothing about. As Radar Online reported:
“This afternoon, an individual purporting to be a representative of the hacker group Anonymous posted a disturbing Twitter video that threatens to expose ‘very dirty secrets’ including information about Cruz ‘visiting prostitutes!’”
In the video, Anonymous urged Ted Cruz to suspend his presidential campaign or his alleged prostitution ring secrets would be exposed. It started with the words:
“Your lying during this presidential campaign has gotten out of control.”
The video has since been taken down, but Radar Online quoted the message to Cruz:
“You have committed voter fraud to steal votes that do not belong to you … The fraud you have committed against Mr. [Ben] Carson will not be tolerated.”
“Anonymous will not let this go without repercussions or consequences […] We will not sit and watch the citizens of America fall for it any longer.”
“Almost every word that comes out of your mouth is a complete lie … and you, Mr. Cruz, have been hiding behind some very dirty secrets that lie beneath the surface … secrets that you believed would never haunt you.”
“It’s time that we tell America what’s hiding behind the curtain… Do you recall visiting prostitutes?”
“Mr. Cruz, we are now demanding that you exit this race within 24 hours, or Anonymous will release all of the information we have found … Your so-called underground hacks that you think were done in the dark will be brought out for all the public to see …Your disgusting behavior … will go viral on every social media platform.”
One could follow anti-cruz campaign on Twitter under #OPCruz. However, all that eventually surfaced as “proof” of Cruz’s involvement in prostitution, was a tweet with a picture of a girl, asking Cruz to explain who she was. Heavy.com concluded that the account was likely a hoax, as it posted a doctored photo with the farcical hashtag #AliensAreReal.
Americans will just have to wait to see if Anonymous really takes action against Ted Cruz.
