While GOP front-runner Donald Trump may be very bad–even toxic–to the country as a whole, not everyone is upset at the rise of the racist, xenophobic, hate-spewing dillhole we now have to endure on a daily basis whenever we turn on our computer or television.
CBS CEO Les Moonves is practically giddy with delight, recently telling investors that while the sudden rise Trump “may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.”
Moonves can be heard on a leaked audiotape also commenting:
“Man, who would have expected the ride we’re all having right now? This is pretty amazing. Who would have thought that this circus would come to town?”
In other words, Moonves is saying that CBS is making money hand over fist, so who cares what happens to the country in the process. He also remarks:
“The money’s rolling in. What can I say. This is fun.”
It should also be noted that just as recently as this week, Trump, during his celebratory speech following the results of the day’s primary, referred to the “disgusting reporters” who were covering the event. Yet were it not for those very same reporters and networks, Trump would be unable to spread his bile and verbal violence far and wide. Perhaps he doesn’t realize just how essential the media is to his very survival.
And now we see that a major network is doing a celebratory dance as they help the monster we know as Trump rise to even greater heights. As Moonves also noted in the audiotape:
“The marketplace is flooded with money. This is going to be a very good year for us.”
Hey, that’s just super, Les. May you briefly choke on a truffle the next time you’re out to dinner at the 21 Club.
