It’s been a vicious battle. With the upcoming presidential election and possibility of a new, liberal Supreme Court Justice, the GOP has been fighting every step of the way to stop President Obama from choosing a nomination.
Despite the best attempts by the Republican party, the planning for a nominee has been going ahead, although the administration has not been excessively vocal on all of their choices. We’ve recently covered three possible nominees, and it appears that the president has actually chosen to nominate one of our covered three.
The President nominated Chief Judge Merrick Garland, citing a long history and good moral character, even going so far as to call him “One of the sharpest legal minds in history.”
You can view a live-feed of the nomination (and Garland’s long history of accomplishments) here.
