Trump May Finally Have To Pay Those Legal Fees After Criminal Battery Complaint

The big Trump news from Friday, March 11, was that protesters had succeeded in stopping his Chicago appearance. While the event was cancelled due to concerns that it could turn violent – imagine that – Trump still found a way to lay part of the blame at Bernie Sanders’ feet.

What didn’t get a lot of coverage earlier that day was the fact that a Breitbart reporter, Michelle Fields, was filing a criminal complaint with the Jupiter, FL Police Department. Fields alleges that Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, grabbed her at a Trump press conference on Tuesday, March 8. The altercation also led to bruises on Fields’ arm, bruises that she documented.

After Fields came forward with the allegation, Trump’s campaign did what it does best – deny, deny, deny. Fox News Insider reports that:

“Friday night on “The Kelly File,” Megyn asked Fields about the incident, including questions about whether she actually ever saw the person who grabbed her. Fields said the Trump campaign has “basically done a character assassination on me,” linking to blogs with conspiracies about her and not telling the truth. “Their statements continue to say there’s no eyewitnesses, no pictures, no videos.”

Even Trump’s campaign spokesperson, the ever-so charismatic Katrina Pierson, downplayed the incident to Megyn Kelly Friday night by saying:

“Well I think there is a lot of confusion going on right now. I mean you heard Michelle admit herself that she didn’t see who grabbed her, it was another reporter that said that it was Corey Lewandowski, and of course you know there was a Breitbart article that came out today that said there could be mistaken identity.”

The rest of the interview is a back and forth between Kelly and Pierson in which Kelly repeatedly has to correct Pierson on the facts. Honestly, this is one of Pierson’s most pathetic attempts to twist and distort the truth to fit the Trump narrative.

As of right now, there is audio to help back up Fields’ claim, as well as video. Let’s not forget the eyewitness either. An eyewitness that Pierson is quick to dismiss. As MSN reports:

“Washington Post reporter Ben Terris wrote Thursday that he witnessed Fields being grabbed, identifying Lewandowski as the person who did it.”

Lastly, the fact that Breitbart has openly been friendly to Trump and his campaign should not be lost. So while Trump continues with his violent and divisive rhetoric, it seems his supporters and staff are falling right in line with his message. At this point, would anyone really be shocked at another Chicago-type incident occurring in the near future?
