KY’s Matt Bevin Makes Fool Of Himself Trying To Shame KY House Democrats (VIDEO)

Matt Bevin, Tea Party favorite and governor of Kentucky, attempted to make a video to show that legislators in Kentucky are not doing their jobs…but made a big mistake.

See the video in this newscast:

The video makes the Kentucky Democrats in their state congress look very bad. Why are none of them working? Why are they not at least in session, debating and refining the budget Bevin provided?

First, the budget that Bevin has proposed is not a popular one. Bevin proposes to cut all funding to Planned Parenthood and any other clinic that provides abortion services. To date, Kentucky has had one Planned Parenthood to ever offer abortion services and that lasted about a month before Bevin shut them down and sued them. The budget also calls for a repeal of the prevailing wage in Kentucky.

“The Kentucky prevailing wage law requires that a regionally established wage rate be paid to construction workers on public projects. Contractors, many business interests and many public school officials have said it needlessly inflates the cost of public buildings. But labor groups say it sets a fair wage and results in higher quality buildings.”

These, however, are just a few problems with the budget. The court system, according to Chief Justice Minton, would not be able to operate.

“Offering a ‘clear and sober warning,’ Kentucky’s Supreme Court chief justice warned Tuesday that budget cuts proposed by Gov. Matt Bevin would cripple the court system statewide.

Just to enact the 4.5 percent cuts Bevin has proposed for the current fiscal year that ends June 30, the courts ‘likely would have to shut down the entire court system for approximately three weeks,’ John Minton Jr. told a house budget subcommittee.

‘It is simply not possible for the judicial branch to cut 4.5 percent, $9 million, from our general fund in the current fiscal year,’ Minton told the panel.”

The courts are not the only institution to fear Bevin’s proposed drastic cuts. Despite his insistence that Kentucky’s public school system would be a priority, they face cuts under Bevin’s proposals, as well.

“Kentucky Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt says that if Gov. Matt Bevin’s proposed budget is approved by the General Assembly, the Department of Education will face $72 million in reductions over the next two years.

‘We all have a right and cause to be nervous about the proposed budget,’ Pruitt wrote in his weekly blog Friday.”

None of these are the reasons that Bevin found the State Capital building empty, though. Turns out, House Democrats weren’t there because…they were working. After Bevin’s attempt at social media shaming, House Democrats had an answer to his attacks.

Does Matt Bevin truly not understand how Congress works, or like most Tea Party candidates, does he simply count on those who vote for him not knowing how it works?
