So imagine this scene, if you can: You’re sitting at the local Waffle House waiting for your eggs, hash browns, and a short stack of pancakes when a guy walks in dressed in a clown costume and lights up some meth in a pipe. What would you think?

That’s exactly what happened Tuesday morning in Athens, Georgia. A man later identified as Jacob Worthington then went to the bathroom and continued to smoke methamphetamine. When police arrived, they were given a key to the restroom by Waffle House employees and arrested Mr. Worthington.

One of those working at the Waffle House recalled:

“It was slow that night. He was fully dressed as a clown. I couldn’t believe it. But you see some weird stuff in downtown Athens.”

Having graduated from the University of Georgia, which is located in Athens, I can indeed verify that you do see some weird stuff at times, but I never saw anything like that during my four years in Athens.

When police searched Worthington, they also found the following items:

  • LSD wrapped in foil
  • Rolling papers
  • A jar of psychedelic mushrooms
  • A jar of marijuana
  • A digital scale
  • A gold box filled with marijuana and an unknown white powder

Apparently Mr. Worthington was planning to have one hell of a party!

Worthington was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and II narcotics, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It turns out that Worthington is a veteran of Afghanistan, and was a member of the U.S. Army’s 310 Psychological Operations Company. Psy-ops as they’re known in the trade. Psy-ops are defined as:

“Planned operations to convey selected information and indicators to audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of governments, organizations, groups, and individuals.”

Translation: Mind games. And apparently some mind games have been played on Worthington, who posted this on his Facebook page:

“The frown of a clown brings down everyone around yet between me and you the most happy clowns are blue this is true for the best thing to do is to avoid them all together.”

Yet another reason you should never ever trust a clown.
