Guess Which Very Important Democrat Appointed Trump’s Sister As A Federal Judge

Donald Trump is doing everything he can to distance himself from Hillary Clinton these days. After all, “Daddy Warbucks” gave Hillary a lot of praise and money back in 2008 to support her presidential bid. Now, as opponents on different sides of the ballot – Trump said “it wasn’t love, just smart business.” This, of course, was in the Wall Street Journal in regards to why he financed some of her campaign.

Hillary was also belittled for attending Trump’s lavish and elegant 2005 wedding. While The Donald and Clinton both had their reasons for supporting each other in the past – their relationship goes further back than most of us can recall. In fact, it was President Clinton that nominated Trump’s sister, Maryanne Barry, as a Federal Judge in June 1999.

While Barry – who was a Republican and Reagan-selected trial judge at the time – had hopes of entering the Federal realm, she was incredibly surprised at the nomination. Now for Donald — who said that Obama does not have the right to appoint someone to replace the late Justice Scalia — why did he not oppose his sister’s nomination from President Clinton? Wasn’t Bill the same as Obama is today – the President and Commander-in-Chief?

Donald Trump has taken hypocrisy to unprecedented heights in his bid to become President. But his defense is that his past political maneuvers were transactional and reactionary at best. Still, his politics are designed only to suit him when convenient. After all, he is the only “Republican” to initially say he would run on a third-party ticket should he fail to secure the GOP’s nomination. Not a very concrete stance in the minds of potential voters and supporters, eh?

According to the New Jersey Law Journal in 1999: “I am deeply honored and very grateful for the nomination”, said Barry. While she is now a senior judge, Maryanne also praised the bipartisanship stance on her nomination. In other words, she was glad that politics did not play a role in her nomination. Maybe Sister Mary should’ve echoed these sentiments to Brother Donald – who has been a prominent opposition figure to Obama appointing a new judge to replace the late Scalia.

Barry’s nomination via President Clinton was even confirmed by the Senate with lightning speed. This took place on September 13, 1999 – just three months from nomination to confirmation. Clinton politics, eh?
