Petition Circulating Asking POTUS To Nominate Anita Hill To Replace Scalia

This may the best thing I’ve seen since the debate began on who President Obama should nominate to replace the late Antonin Scalia: A petition has been created on Change.org asking the President to nominate Anita Hill for the opening on the high court.

The petition states:

“Anita Hill For Supreme Court

“Now THAT’S Justice!

“Anita Hill is a highly qualified legal scholar with all the right qualifications to be a Supreme Court Justice. She will be an excellent choice to make the most important decisions facing our judiciary.”

In case you’re wondering, this is indeed the same Anita Hill who accused Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment when she worked for him at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) back in the 1980s. After lengthy confirmation hearings, Thomas was narrowly confirmed by the Senate when he complained that the Judiciary Committee was attempting to carry out a “high-tech lynching” of him.

Can you imagine the look on the faces of Republican Senators if President Obama did nominate Ms. Hill? Even better, can you possibly fathom the reaction from Justice Thomas? That alone would make it worthwhile.

Granted, I don’t expect Anita Hill to get the call for the Supreme Court, but just the fact that her name is out there all these years later, hovering over the collective memories of the GOP and their guilty consciences, is enough to make this the perfect beginning to the week.

Here’s Professor Hill talking about what she learned from the Thomas hearings. The video is from 2013:
