WATCH: Samantha Bee On The Republican Banquet Of All-You-Can-Eat Crazy

January 8th marked the opening of Samantha Bee’s new Monday show on TBS called “Full Frontal,” and as Crooks & Liars put it; man, did she open with a bang!

Watch the Youtube video excerpt at the end of the article.

“Full Frontal” follows “The Daily Show” format of hilarious commentary on recent political events, minus the interviews. “The Daily Show” has an impressive track record of finding and fostering comedic talent, and Bee worked as a reporter on the show for many years. As Variety reported, “The Daily Show” may have lost some of its cultural sizzle with Trevor Noah recently appointed to fill Stewart’s sizable shoes, which gives more room for the show’s offshoots to operate.

And a weekly format (as supposed to daily), allows the hosts to focus on the best stories from the previous week. Variety’s Brian Lowry concluded:

“Bee delivered a promising and pointed debut, demonstrating that when it comes to political satire, she can sting with the best of them.”

So what were her hilarious comments? Bee started off by laying out the direction of the show:

“We wrote like two hours of jokes about Democrats, but we had to throw them all out, because then the Republicans laid out a banquet of all-you-can-eat crazy”

After showing footage of Marco Rubio using his son as a campaign prop she said:

“Oh, look at that. Marco Rubio has finally found a way to look like the big boy in the room. Hey, you know what? Ted Cruz has somehow managed to reproduce. Maybe he can use his child to make him seem more personable.”

Followed by footage of Ted Cruz trying to kiss his daughter, of which Bee’s final comment was:

“Maybe she just needs to get to know him”

Bee delivered political satire at its finest. Not only that, the world of comedy is in desperate need of a woman’s perspective. As USA Today summarized:

“Some might want to think that in this day and age, the gender of a comedy-show host doesn’t matter — but when most every other host of every similar show is male, having a woman running and fronting Full Frontal with Samantha Bee matters. A voice that wasn’t being heard, a perspective that wasn’t being seen, now gets a chance to break through.”

So tune in Monday nights for more of Samantha Bee!
