Minutes After Polls Open In New Hampshire, Fox News Declares Trump The Winner

Minutes after the polls opened in some parts of New Hampshire, this graphic appeared on the website for Fox News:

Uh, that seems somewhat premature, wouldn’t you say? Trump was declared the winner, with Marco “Robo” Rubio in second place and Ted Cruz third. The graphic also noted that 100 percent of precincts were reporting. Note that there are also vote totals for each of the candidates.

WTF?!

The Fox News’ website has since been corrected, and chief digital officer Jeff Misenti had this to say about the error:

“During routine testing in preparation for the New Hampshire primary a malfunction occurred which briefly showed errant data on our website. This error has been rectified. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

Makes me wonder, however, if one of two things happened:

  1. Trump paid Fox News to declare him the winner
  2. Fox wanted to try and embarrass Trump by making him the winner and then hoping for an upset, which would make Trump look even more foolish than he already does.

When the returns start to roll in later this evening, expect Trump to spread the news all over Twitter if he wins. If he loses, he’ll accuse another candidate of cheating.

But for one brief, shining moment, Trump finally got to be what he wasn’t in Iowa: A winner.
