What President Obama Said While Visiting A Mosque Will Really Tick Off Right Wingers

During his nearly eight years in the White House, President Obama had never visited a mosque, even though to hear right wingers tell it, he’s a secret Muslim who was born in Kenya and wants to eliminate Christianity from the face of the earth.

But now that the President only has a few months left in office, he is saying to hell with what conservatives think and following his conscience, which makes him even more effective and eloquent than ever. And he proved that today.

Here’s a video of the President’s remarks at the Islamic Society of Baltimore earlier today:

The essence of what President Obama said can best be summed up in this quote from his speech:

“Muslim Americans keep up safe. They are our police. They are our fire fighters. They’re in (the Department of) Homeland Security.”

And the President also reminded us all that we are all Americans, no matter our faith, our background, our race, our gender, our sexual orientation:

“We are one American family. We will rise and fall together.”

That’s certainly refreshing to hear in light of the hateful things puked out by Donald Trump and other candidates who are trying to be more extreme than one another.

For young Muslims in America, the President also had a specific message of encouragement:

“You’re right where you belong. You’re part of America too.”

There is no religious test to be an American, nor should there ever be. A person’s religion is irrelevant, and those who seek to demonize another person simply because he or she worships differently are the truly un-American members of this country.
